Vixen's
Sphinx SXW Mount features leading edge innovations developed through
decades of experience in building German Equatorial Mounts. The Vixen
SPHINX SXW mount and STAR BOOK hand controller are groundbreaking
advancements in high speed, portable GoTo mount technology.
Easy Secure setup. The
Sphinx SXW Mount sets up in minutes. One bolt secures it to the tripod.
Beginners and seasoned hobbyists will benefit from the portability of
the mount, the easy to use controller, the ability to download future
upgrades directly to the controller and the versatility of placing a
variety of optical tubes on this equatorial mount with Vixen's universal
dove tail plate.
High Speed Precise GoTo Slewing:
The short profile declination head and internal motors greatly improve
balance and motion around the RA Axis. This innovative, lightweight
design guarantees precise motor control.
Unique Motor Layout:
The internal placement of the the RA and DEC motors allow the motors to
act as a built in counterweight. Small telescopes require no additional
counterweights.
Retractable Counterweight Shaft: Constructed of corrosion resistant stainless steel, it retracts into the Sphinx mount body for easy storage.
The STAR BOOK is
the most advanced astronomical hand controller available and is
recommended for anyone interested in exploring the night sky. The
innovative STAR BOOK hand controller offers astronomical navigation with
a large full-color LCD screen! The color screen is a detailed star
chart that acts as a navigational and GOTO guide for the mount.
Zoom-In/Out
buttons for the color star chart display also control the motor speed.
As you zoom in closer to an object on the display screen, the motor
speed automatically becomes finer and as you zoom out the motor speed
increases to cover larger distances. Features and menu options are
displayed on the large color screen and are easily navigated with simple
buttons on the controller. The PEC Function
corrects periodic error correction for precision tracking needed for
astrophotography. The STAR BOOK is amazingly easy to use and makes the
SPHINX available to a wide range of ages and experience levels. Visit the STAR BOOK page for more details on this remarkable controller.
The SPHINX mount can be purchased with or without the HAL 130 tripod.
The SX HAL130 tripod provides ample stability and has no
wobble points in its design. The SX HAL130 has a large base to carry the
SX mount. The tripod extends from 32" to 51" (81cm to 130cm) and weighs
12 lbs. (5.5 kg.)
